The 2022 PUBG Nations Cup has turned out the worst in-game skins revenue sharing numbers since the introduction of the Pick’Em Challenge in late 2019, if what multiple sources have been told have been true.

According to the sources, the PNC participants were recently informed about the total net revenue of the event’s in-game item sales, which totaled around $250,000. This would’ve produced a total team share of around $75,000 (as it was confirmed by Krafton before the PNC that 30% of net revenue will be distributed to the teams), split in proportion based on the initial $500,000 prize pool and each team’s final position achieved in Bangkok.

This would mean a sharp decline in comparison to all previous Pick’Em events, which have provided the PUBG Esports teams with total revenue shares of around $400,000 per season of PUBG Continental Series and over $2,000,000 for each of three global events (PGC 2019, PGI.S 2021, PGC 2021) held since the crowdfunding program was reworked in late 2019.

While the official reasoning has not been noted at any point since PNC ended, there are a few rumored reasons that have led to such low crowdfunding numbers. Firstly, a huge chunk of 1,100,000 votes that have been casted during the PNC Pick’Em Challenge have provided no additional income to the teams and Krafton due to them coming from voting coupon codes, which have been showcased during the tournament broadcasts.

On top of that, it’s being rumored that a batch of PNC in-game skin packages, which costed 1490 G-Coins (around $15) have been bought by community using the free G-Coins included in PUBG Battlegrounds Plus Package, and that those sales were not included in the net skin revenue numbers.

Last but not least, the PUBG Esports community have been vocal before and during the Nations Cup that the in-game skins prepared by Krafton for the tournament have been of a disappointing quality, which in effect would have negatively affected the total sales number.
