Yes, the PUBG Asia Recap have finally returned after being stuck in the basement for few months. As usual, it’s goal to bring you a recap of what happened over the last month in the region and information about the upcoming matches and events.

Important News :

South Korea - PKL Phase 2

Standings post Week 1

This week saw the start for the new Phase of PKL - the first 12 games were as sure exciting and it led to a few takeaways :

  • Gen.G have finally looked like a championship contender once again with more aggression-oriented play , as well as “Esth3r”, “Loki” and new addition in Cha “Pio” Seung Hoon racking up a ton of kills ( 47 between them to be exact ).
  • The only team that managed to stay close is VSG, which is coming off a three consecutive 3rd place placement finishes on Wednesday and a 21-kill Chicken Dinner ( first 20+ kill win in Korea this year ) during Saturday’s opening game.
  • 3rd and 4th place after Week 1 are being held by two polar opposite teams kill-heavy APK Prince, which have closed only half of their games with the placement points, but 45 kill week have skyrocketed them in the standings, and placement-heavy Lavega Esports that achieved six top five finishes in their eight games ( 1st, 2nd, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 5th )
  • Ending the week in the bottom of the ranking we have Element Mystic that had a disastrous Saturday ( 8 points, 7 of them scored in the first game ), newly-formed OPG Argor, and to the surprise of everyone, the member of the “Big 4” teams in OGN Entus Force.

China - PUBG Champions League Spring

Battle in the China’s main division, PCL, have been in the full swing throughout May, with three weeks of the spring split concluded and fourth of the six played heading to it’s end.

The highlight of Week 1 was a nail-bitting battle between FPX ( FunPlus PhoeniX ) and VC Gaming, which started during their Erangel Division play - both teams stayed quite ahead of the pack, with FunPlus clinching the division title due to winning the tiebreaker with a one more kill ( both teams got 46pts, FPX scored 27 kills vs VC 26 ). VC got the last laugh though, as they have beaten FPX on a tiebreaker to secure the Week 1 title.

The other big story of that week was OMG going from barely making to the Week Final, with a 17-point round at the end of Erangel Division saving them at the end, to nearly winning it all ( leading by 7 points over VC with 2 games to go, but 4 points in those rounds weren’t enough ).

Week 2 of the PCL looked to be one in control of 4AM ( Four Angry Men ) - team led by “GodV” clinched a Week 2 Miramar Division title with two 10-kill Chicken Dinners and with two games to go in the Week Final they both had a 14-point lead and a momentum on their side ( 2nd-4th-2nd and 25 kills in previous three games ).

Weibo_Running hyped reaction at their win was outstanding

Unfortunately for their fans, the mix of 4AM choking, rotating with a boat to the beach at the wrong time ( right as KG got to the Erangel main island cliff ), and Team Sina Weibo racking up kills in the last games and narrowly surviving out 4AM in the last game have led to the Weibo’s winning by 2 points.

In the Week 3, it was time for the BA ( Black Ananas ) to come up to the stage as the Week Champions, with 53 kills ( record in PCL Week Finals ) and six placement finishes to rack up their win. Finishing behind them were two up-and-coming teams in CEGM and Su4, Tianba ( previously SnakeTC ) and 17Gaming.

In the overall standings, BA, VC and Weibo are in the top 3 thanks to their Week titles ( 100 PCL points for a win ), with BA leading due to two other point finishes ( 5th in Week 2, 10th in Week 1 ) and VC not far behind because of their 7th place finish in Week 2. Joining them in the top 5 at the midpoint of the season is consistent Ark Game Team ( 7th-6th-6th in Week Finals ) and 17Gaming ( 3rd in Week 2 and 5th in Week 3 ).

Thailand JIB Thai Pro League Season 3

Thailand’s Pro League ( which actually isn’t a part of the Global Circuit ) have started their third season last weekend ( May 17–18 ), featuring a prizepool of 132,000 THB ( ~4,170 USD ) and a spot to the Season LAN Finals. Dominating the first week with five finishes in the top 2 and 42 kills in those games was Purple Mood ( PLME ), which have debuted their new acquisition in “HoN_BoYa”. Closing out behind them were 5th place team of Faceit Global Summit in Armory Gaming, Pinto, Lucid and Goldencat.
